A 2-day workshop where you'll discover the immense creative possibilities of bringing jewellery and fashion concepts to life, using 3D printing and 3D modelling.

Push the boundaries of traditional jewellery and fashion design through technology and create your own unique, pieces tailored to your individual aesthetic, style and fashion.

You will learn to design models of intricate pieces, print castable jewellery patterns, and prototype frames for stylish sunglasses. You'll gain hands-on experience with the software Blender.

LAPTOP REQUIREMENTS

DAY 1 : INTRODUCTION TOB3D MODELLING & RESIN PRINTING

WELCOME AND INTRODUCTION

You will be welcomed to the workshop space and introduced to the instructors. The course goals and objectives will be discussed, and you will have the opportunity to ask any initial questions.

BLENDER INTERFACE AND NAVIGATION

Next, you will be introduced to Blender and its interface. The instructors will teach you how to navigate the software, create basic objects, and manipulate them within the space. This phase will conclude with a guided mini-project where you will create a living room using basic shapes.

DESIGNING A CUSTOM RING

During this part of the course, you will learn about the editing mode, and work with more complex geometry, textures, and modifiers. You will also learn how to manipulate objects to achieve the desired appearance.

You will be taught the design considerations and anatomy for 3D printing a cast-able jewellery ring. Each student will be given time to research and explore various styles through sketching and brainstorming.

INTRODUCTION TO 3D PRINTING

This will be a presentation that covers the different types of 3D printing technology, including FDM, SLA, and SLS. Their industry uses and benefits in the fashion and jewellery industry will be discussed. Current innovators and future applications in the fashion space will also be covered.

RESIN PRINTING

Finally, you will take a closer look at resin 3D printing. You will learn how to prepare your 3D model for printing and cover different print settings to optimize the process and achieve a great final product.

WRAP UP AND Q&A

The final part of the day will provide an opportunity to review the material covered and ask any fi questions. The instructors will ensure that all participants feel confident in their understanding of the topics covered and provide any necessary clarification.

DAY 2 : ADVANCED 3D MODELLING & FDM PRINTING

** WELCOME AND INTRODUCTION**

At the start of Day 2, you will be welcomed back to the workshop space and have a brief review of the topics covered on Day 1.

MIDJOURNEY CONCEPT DESIGN

This part will be a short presentation on the use of artificial intelligence for concept design and prototyping. We will show you how to use various prompts to narrow down on style and aesthetic.

MODELLING A PAIR OF GLASSES

Next, you will learn about the anatomy and considerations of designing glasses, and explore various fashion styles.

Following a demonstration on how to model a basic frame using reference images, you will sketch and design a custom pair of glasses.

ENVIRONMENT & LIGHTING

This part of the course will cover more advanced topics such as environment, geometry, lighting, cameras, and textures.

FDM PRINTING

In this section, you will learn how to slice your 3D frame model using Cura and load it on on the printer. You will also learn about common slicing and printing issues and best practices to avoid problems.

WRAP UP AND Q&A

The final part of the course will provide an opportunity to review the material covered on Day 2 and ask any final questions. The instructors will ensure that all participants feel confident in their understanding of the topics covered and provide any necessary clarification.
